Chiropractic Care in St. Augustine, FL
Chiropractic care is the hands-on core of this practice: restoring motion to spinal and other joints that have stopped moving properly, and releasing the tissue holding them there. It is where most people at Spinal Solutions start, and for most of them it is the whole answer. The exam decides whether anything else is needed.

Chiropractic care is what the sign says, and it is where roughly everyone starts. A joint stops moving the way it should, the muscles around it take over the work, and the pain shows up somewhere slightly to the side of the actual problem. Finding that joint is the job. Adjusting it is comparatively easy.
Everything else in this practice exists because that answer is not always enough. When a disc is pressing on a nerve, adjusting alone will not unload it. When a tendon has stopped healing, hands-on work eventually plateaus. But those are the exceptions, and treating them as the default would mean selling equipment rather than treating people. the MedlinePlus overview of chiropractic care is a good neutral starting point if you want to read about the approach before you book.
What a first visit looks like here
Nothing goes on a table before an exam. We take a history, watch how you move, run orthopedic and neurological testing, and use digital X-ray on site where it is clinically warranted rather than by default. Then you are shown what we found and why it explains what you are feeling.
If it does not explain it, you get told that too. That is the part worth choosing a practice for.
We approach each patient differently, because two patients with the same diagnosis may respond differently to the same treatment.
What sits under chiropractic care
Chiropractic Adjustments A chiropractic adjustment is a precise, controlled force applied to a spinal joint that has lost its normal position or motion, to restore that motion and take pressure off the nerves, ligaments and muscles around it. Read about chiropractic adjustments
Soft Tissue Treatments Soft tissue treatment is hands-on and instrument-assisted work on muscle, tendon and fascia: myofascial release, trigger point therapy and targeted instrument work. Read about soft tissue treatments
Prenatal Chiropractic Care Prenatal chiropractic care uses gentle, pregnancy-adapted technique and positioning to ease the discomfort that comes as the body carries a growing baby: low back and sciatic pain, round ligament pain, pubic symphysis discomfort and the neck and shoulder tension that follows a changing posture. Chiropractic Care for Children Pediatric chiropractic care is musculoskeletal care for a growing body, using a fraction of the force used on an adult. Read about chiropractic care for children Who this side of the practice is for
- Pain or stiffness that is worse in certain positions or first thing in the morning
- A joint or region that feels stuck rather than simply sore
- Families wanting one practice for adults, pregnancy and children
- Anyone who would rather try conservative care before medication or surgery

Why have it done here
Two chiropractors, digital X-ray in the building, and an exam that happens before anything is recommended rather than after. It is also a faith-based, family-owned practice, which in daily terms means the same doctors treat their own families here and are willing to tell you when something is not ours to treat.
This is one of four sides of the practice, and the exam decides which of them you actually belong in.

5.0 from 166 Google reviewsLast summer my back was in terrible shape after a day riding on a jet ski. I went to Dr. Derek and he provided some immediate relief but also introduced some critical stretch and strength techniques to help with injury prevention. 8 Months later I continue to visit once a month as continued preventative maintenance.
The entire team at Spinal Solutions has been great from start to finish. Knowledgeable, friendly and effective, my neck and back issues have never been kept at bay the way they have since I have been in Dr. Derek’s care. 10/10 recommend!

Questions we get asked
What does a chiropractor actually do?
A chiropractor examines how your joints move, finds the ones that have lost their normal motion, and restores that motion with a precise, controlled force. Alongside that we treat the soft tissue holding the restriction in place and prescribe the corrective work that keeps it from returning. The examination is the part that matters most, because finding the right joint is harder than adjusting it.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Florida?
No. Chiropractic physicians in Florida are licensed as direct-access providers, so you can book without a referral from another doctor. If your case needs a medical opinion, imaging beyond what we hold, or a specialist, we will tell you and refer you.
How is this different from physical therapy?
There is real overlap in the rehabilitation half. The difference is that chiropractic care leads with restoring joint motion through adjusting, then layers the exercise on top. Physical therapy is a separate licensed profession, and where that is what you need we will say so rather than blur the line.
Which service should I book?
Book the evaluation, not a service. Everyone starts with the same $47 exam, and the findings decide whether you need adjusting alone, soft tissue work, the decompression table, or something we do not offer at all. Choosing your own treatment before an exam is how people end up paying for the wrong one.
Do you treat children and pregnant patients?
Yes, both, with technique adapted to each. Prenatal care uses gentle, pregnancy-safe positioning with no pressure on the abdomen. Pediatric care uses a fraction of the force used on an adult and is limited to musculoskeletal complaints, with anything medical going to the child's pediatrician.
